Wednesday's Word of Encouragement: EDUCATION

1: having an education;
especially: having an education beyond the average
2a: giving evidence of training or practice
b: befitting one that is educated

c: based on some knowledge of fact6

We live in the age of information.  Every question; every answer is at our fingertips,
however are we developing beyond the average or practicing what we have been taught?
Let’s be honest. Most of us are working towards a life degree in being average at many
With so much knowledge coming at us it is easy to become a “Jack of All Trades”.
But most of us are not named Jack.  And even those who are may “chow down” on
information only to find themselves hungry for more - never satisfied. Why not satisfied?
Because deep down we know that we have been designed for more than average.
We have a desire to be great at something not average at most things.  Jim Collins
wrote a whole book based on the principle, “Good is the enemy to great.”  Through
all of his research he came to the conclusion that, “For, in the end, it is impossible
to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life.  And it is very difficult to have a
meaningful life without meaningful work.” 6

Even as an AWIP we should choose meaningful work as we progress! Therefore, let
us become educated in the things that matter most to the plans God has for us. If that is
fulfilling degree requirements so the right doors open; pursuing being apprenticed by
someone who is an expert in the strengths that we are trying to develop; mastering a
discipline through reading, research, and application - whatever the education we seek
let us first seek an education from our wise Heavenly Counselor, who brings meaning to
our work!

"A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,"
(Prov. 1:5 NKJV)
